COLLABORATIVE MODEL FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE CUSCATLÁN PARK

Country: El Salvador

There is a recurrence in the non-continuity of territorial development management Cuscatlán Park, the entrance to the Historic Center of San Salvador, reopened in 2019 after undergoing renovations in infrastructure, landscaping, accessibility, and lighting, thanks to the collaboration of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Howard Buffett Foundation (HGBF), Glasswing International, and the Municipality of San Salvador.
To preserve the improvements made, the Cuscatlán Park Foundation (FUNDAPARC) was created, working with the Municipality of San Salvador under a collaborative management model based on the Specific Collaboration Agreement between FUNDAPARC and the Municipality of San Salvador for the Sustainable Management of Cuscatlán Park. This agreement allows for pooling resources from the Municipality of San Salvador, private donors, and revenues from providing services within the Park. Cuscatlán Park has become a popular destination for families, experiencing a 500% growth in visitors.
