The Revista Iberoamericana de Gobierno Local accepts, evaluates, and publishes scientific research papers in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, falling into one of the following categories:
- Articles: Research papers (theoretical or empirical) offering an original, critical, comprehensive (legal, jurisprudential, and doctrinal), and systematic study of a topic, presenting the conclusions reached.
- Chronicles: Works systematically presenting experiences carried out in the entire scope of local public management, which may be of interest to transfer and share with other Ibero-American local governments or researchers, or which, while not constituting a scientific article, expose the issues on a specific topic.
Both types of articles undergo their respective peer review processes
