Municipalism is experiencing very intense times, marked by the pandemic and by the recovery, greater or lesser, that is taking place in all the countries of the world. This paper addresses the most important issues that affect municipalism, in this context and from the perspective of the legal and organizational system in Spain. The strong presence of the Spanish autonomist phenomenon and the characteristics of the competence framework are analyzed, with its lights and shadows, as well as the need to extend the debate that has been taking place at the national and regional levels to local funding sources to end up betting by the incorporation to local organizations of some organizational changes that are inspired by the fund management system of the European Union.
