Relationships between the Law and the Sustainable Development Goals

Country: España

The 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals establish a reference framework that not only identifies the challenges on which it is necessary to intervene to achieve sustainable development, but also the way to address them. It is an approach anchored in the sustainability paradigm, based on the coordination of actions and the cooperation and involvement of all kinds of governments and institutions, civil society, economic sectors, the cultural sector, academia, etc. In this framework, the Law is an essential tool to resolve the conflicts that this new context opens up; its institutions, principles and rules allow us to reconcile collective problems of any nature, be it poverty, inequalities, the effects of climate change or COVID-19, among many others. Legal studies, such as those contained in this work, are essential to achieve the objectives and goals that the 2030 Agenda commits to, objectives that -given their breadth- can be addressed from all sectors of the legal system.
