This book has a double objective. First of all, we want to share with people read what action research for territorial development is today (IADT). In addition, we want this book to contribute to consolidating the community that since 2008 we are developing to promote the IADT in the multi-local space conformed by Orkestra- Basque Institute of Competitiveness (Basque Country, Spain), the University from Agder (Norway), Praxis (Rafaela, Argentina) and the University of Tierra del Fuego (Argentina).

The backbone of the book are ten chapters written by members of this community linked to the IADT. In each of them we share the debates that we are addressing nowadays. These contributions are the roots of the IADT and can only be be understood through the dialogue between chapters, whose stories and authors are intertwined by being part of the same process. What defines us as a community and links us in it process are our commitment to contribute to the development of our territories and the decisión to use the IADT as a methodology to do so.
