In accordance with the structure of the previous reports, the present document "Perspectives for agriculture and rural development in the Americas" (2014) is divided into two large sections. The first section presents three chapters regarding:
Macroeconomic context: an analysis on recent developments and perspectives of financial and macroeconomic conditions that make up the international context, which in turn determine the performance of the regional economies.
Sector analysis: discusses the growth of the agricultural activity expanded in a scenario of low global economic growth.
Rural welfare and institutions: refers to the relevant changes in the living conditions of the rural environment, policies and institutions for agriculture.
The second section of the document is dedicated to analyze not only the situation, but also the challenges, potentials and perspectives of family agriculture in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The report is complemented by a statistical annex that includes the main indicators and statistics used. In both sections, policy recommendations are formulated.
