The Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities, promoted by the WHO (2010), seeks to create environments that support active and healthy aging while combating ageism. This network connects cities globally, fostering the exchange of experiences and solutions through the assessment of social inclusion for the group and the implementation of action plans based on eight management areas derived from the Vancouver Protocol. In Spain, IMSERSO leads this initiative, supporting municipalities in joining the network and in developing projects aimed at improving their environments and promoting sustainable aging. An uneven distribution is observed, both in network membership across autonomous communities and in the level of program development. Public communication strategies play a crucial role in promoting inclusive societies and combating ageism.
