Mexico's municipalities face significant challenges to improve their institutional performance and effectively meet citizens' demands. In this context, the Municipal Performance Advisory Guide (GDM) 2022-2024 is presented as a planning instrument that seeks to strengthen local administrative capacities through 8 modules, 31 themes and 115 indicators. The objective of this research was to identify the usefulness of the GDM to organize and guide the work of municipal administrations in Chiapas. The documentary analysis method was used on the results obtained for the period 2022-2024. The results indicate that only the Organization module surpassed 50% of indicators at an optimal level (58.8%), while others, such as Environment and Economic Development, remained at 0%. In conclusion, although the participation of the municipalities has increased, the results still do not reach optimal levels, which reflects limitations in the institutional response to local needs
