SAN JOSÉ SCHOOL OF GOVERNANCE: DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL CAPACITIES IN THE COMMITMENT TO A NEW POLITICAL AND MANAGEMENT CULTURE

Country: Uruguay

Working towards the 2030 Agenda involves a "New Governance" for development, a new political and institutional culture at the local level, and a commitment to innovation in the management of local governments.

The School of Governance was born as an initiative of the Departmental Government of San José with the intention of contributing to the promotion of these principles and global objectives at the local level through:

  1. Training and developing the human and social capital of the department.
  2. Managing key information and knowledge to address the challenges of departmental management.
  3. Facilitating network connections and promoting responsible leadership in all sectors.

We conceive the School of Governance as a social innovation strategy that seeks "more and better critical value connections" to respond to the challenges that society faces in our time in pursuit of the common good.
