Law 21675 establishes measures to prevent, punish and eradicate violence against women, based on their gender.

The purpose of this law is to establish a regulatory framework aimed at preventing, punishing and eradicating violence against women, based on their gender, declaring that every woman has the right to a life free of violence. The law defines women in their different stages of life (girls, adolescents and adults); establishes the principles by which it is governed. Establishes a general duty for all bodies of the State Administration, mandating them, within the framework of their powers, to adopt measures leading to the prevention of gender violence, as well as for the care, protection and reparation for victims of gender violence. Likewise, it identifies special obligations for the Ministry of Women and Gender Equality, and in the areas of health, education, public and penitentiary security, labor and the media.
Additionally, it creates an Interinstitutional Articulation Commission to Address Gender Violence and imposes the duty on the Ministry of the branch to prepare and propose a National Action Plan against Gender Violence and empowers it to create and manage an Integrated Information System on Violence. Gender, aimed at improving the state response to it.
