This work, prepared with the aim of commemorating the Spanish presidency of the Council of the European Union during the second half of 2023, represents the collective effort of a series of prominent specialists in the analysis of the public service to approach its study in a global and multidisciplinary. The choice of the topic and the authors responds to the need to contribute to building a faithful image of what happens in some of the most relevant public employment systems in America and Europe.
