XVI Ibero-American Congress of Municipalists

"Three decades of decentralization in Ibero-America: Balances and Challenges from Municipalism", is the theme that summons us to the XIV Ibero-American Congress of Municipalists, in the city of Valdivia, southern Chile. It constitutes the most important international event of Ibero-American municipalism convened by the UIM in its fourteenth edition and we will meet to work thanks to the generous invitation of the Municipality of Valdivia and the Association of Municipalities of the Los Ríos region, together with different national and international organizations. international organizations such as Universidad Austral de Chile, ACHM, Subdere and SEGIB, among others.

We will address essential issues for public management that are generating great uncertainty in the face of the new scenarios of volatility, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA) that are presented, from three perspectives that we consider essential and a priority for the municipality;

1. Sustainable development and climate change.

2. Smart cities, innovation and digital administration.

3. Women's empowerment and its impact on public policies.

The participation spaces will accommodate the active role of high-level congressmen in each of the proposed themes, through plenary sessions, sectoral tables, workshops and thematic panels. It will be aimed at UIM members, elected authorities, managerial and technical personnel, local and regional governments and their associations, cooperation networks, universities, training centers and the scientific and technological community in general, community associations and the business sector.
