The 2008 crisis brought to the table the debate on Basic Income, which has resurfaced again due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Forty years of social-welfare policies have failed to reduce the enormous inequalities that exist today or to lift families that have received all kinds of welfare benefits out of poverty. The municipal point of view helps to appreciate that guaranteeing all people a stable income that allows to live with dignity and also participate in society is a proposal that suits society as a whole and, moreover, is also economically viable.
