Santa Fe brings to the regional and global levels a concrete experience in the implementation of a risk management process, adopting global guidelines -such as those reflected in the Hyogo Framework for Action- for the orientation of local practices. Since the end of 2007, the initial steps have been taken to implement this process aimed at reducing it within the framework of sustainable local development. The decision to build a sustainable city implied - for the Government of the City of Santa Fe - the implementation of planning policies to reduce urban vulnerability associated with risks of water and environmental origin. Actions linked to improving the articulation conditions of the city with its natural environment had to be developed.
