GESTIÓN DE PAGO POR SERVICIOS AMBIENTALES EN 7 MUNICIPIOS DE CALDAS, COLOMBIA

Country: Colombia

CORPOCALDAS signed the agreement with CORNARE in 2014 to develop the BanCO2 project, as a payment scheme for environmental services, which seeks to be an alternative for peasant families contributing to an economic income from the conservation and protection of natural forests, the implementation of sustainable productive projects and the improvement of the quality of life of the peasants, in addition to contributing to the capture of carbon dioxide, as a measure of adaptation to climate change. Between 2014 and 2018, 73 families located in 7 municipalities have benefited in Caldas, with a total investment of $ 330,800. The main lesson is the demonstration of TRUST with municipal administrations and peasant families, in addition to promoting a change in attitude with an adequate relationship that demonstrates the possibility of social participation in forest.
